Tetley
Its history started in 1837, when Joseph and Edward Tetley added tea to the set of products they marketed. In 1856 they moved the company “Joseph Tetley & Company, Dealers Tea Wholesale"" to London – which at the time was the centre of the world tea trade.
By establishing trade relations with North America, it became the largest tea distributor of the world, whose business includes tea blending and packaging. It was at this time that they created their best well-known product – tea bags – introduced in the United Kingdom in 1953.
Tetley has been working in partnership with The Rainforest Alliance, since 2010, buying tea from farms that comply with the environmental, social and economic standards of the Sustainable Agriculture Network (SAN), where it is included the preservation of ecosystems, the workers’ rights and safety and wildlife protection, among others.
